Quartzite has become a very popular material in natural stone processing, especially in recent years. This material is resistant, while visually striking, and available in a wide range of colours: thanks to these properties, it is suitable for various projects with different applications.
In our daily work, we select natural quartzite of high quality, mainly from Brazil, which we process into slabs for stonemasons, traders, and professionals of the stone industry. In this article, we explain the main characteristics of quartzite and the care we take in processing at Marmi Rossi.

What is quartzite and why is it so resistant
Quartzite is a natural metamorphic rock: over millions of years, quartz-rich sandstone has been compressed by heat and pressure. The result is a very hard and shiny natural stone with a crystalline structure that varies from slab to slab.
The most important characteristics of quartzite
These properties make quartzite a sought-after material in the stone industry:
- High scratch resistance;
- Low porosity, therefore lower absorption compared to other natural stones;
- Long-term colour stability;
- Optimal aesthetics thanks to natural glow and unique veins;
- Versatility: given all these characteristics, quartzite is suitable for a wide range of applications, both indoors and outdoors.
For anyone working with natural stones, quartzite is a reliable choice, as it offers an excellent balance between aesthetics and performance.
Quartzite: a natural material
We’d like to emphasize that quartzite is a natural stone. Sometimes it is confused with artificial quartz-based materials, which are very different from quartzite.
Natural quartzite is unique, inimitable, and is directly formed inside the Earth. Therefore it is a valuable material for all those who seek authenticity and elegance without compromising on resistance and durability.

The colours of quartzite
One of the most fascinating aspects of quartzite is the wide range of colours. Each shade is the result of geological history and the quantity of minerals.
Below, we provide an overview of the most important colour variants.
White quartzite
The colour white is generally in high demand, as it easily adapts to different design styles and materials, from wood to metal. In our warehouse, we have a wide selection of white quartzites that meet all expectations: from very light slabs like Cristallo and Cristallo Extra, with a semi-transparent background und warm hues, to more classic options like White Pearl and White Infinity.

Black Quartzite
Black quartzite has a contemporary, strong character and is perfect for striking design projects.
The most commonly types on stock are: Venom, with elegant white veins, Portoro, with more pronounced veins, and Belvedere, with lighter and more versatile hues.

Grey Quartzite
Grey quartzite is a versatile, balanced material and suitable for minimalist projects, both in private and commercial settings. Our warehouse offers the following types: Infinity Grey, a timeless classic, Negresco, with darker shades and Fusion Grey Blue, with a fascinating blend of grey and blue.

Green Quartzite
This is the most legendary colour from Brazil. Green quartzite offers colour shades from underwood green (like Vitoria Regia) to emerald green (like Emerald Green or Emerald Green Jadore).
There are also quartzites with special patterns like Patagonia Green – whose veins create their own geometric shapes - and Cristallo Bonsai – a true weave of white, black, and light green shades.

Quartzites like Ocean Blue, Blue Roma, and Azul Macaubas are highly valued for their colour intensity and natural surface movements.

Our way of processing quartzite
For 60 years, we have been working with natural stones at Marmi Rossi, placing special emphasis on the quality of the slabs we sell to our customers.
Our work process is based on a few key principles:
- Direct selection at the quarry: we personally check colours and structure of the blocks.
- Internal processing with cutting and surface treatment machines.
- Large stock in our warehouse in Cavaion Veronese, which is 50.000 square metres in size.
- Slabs are mainly available in 2 and 3 cm (other thicknesses upon request) as mostly demanded internationally.
- Shipping in Italy, Europe, and overseas, with long-time experience in fragile transports.
